Statement of ExistenceBMWA goal is to make a difference in the lives of area youth and bring value added programs to the communities of Brazoria and West Columbia, Texas at large. BMWA is determined and committed to making a positive impact in the areas of youth educational development/assistance, community poverty, and illiteracy. We strongly feel that in order to make the world a better place in which to live you must first start in your own community. The imputes for establishing BMWA stems from this strong conviction. The current educational crises facing our community youth is the high dropout rate among Afro-American and other minority groups. Columbia Brazoria ISD has the highest dropout rate in the county. Working closely with school officials and parents, BMWA is committed to bringing about the changes needed to reduce the number of high school dropouts. Additional planned club sponsored activities include: awarding both two-year and four-year academic scholarships to area youth; mentoring and counseling high-risk dropout potential students; big brother and big sister role playing. Also, participate in community wide social events such as Senior Citizen Day, Black History Awareness, M..L. King Festivities and others. |
